Charles Gardner Child, who was born in the year 1908 and died in 1991, was a physician and a specialist in hypertension. He was related to the University of Michigan, he was the person to launch the Child-Pugh Scoring system. In the year 1964, he wrote about it in a book based on the disease of the liver. However, later in the year 1972 it was revised by Pugh et al in analysis about the surgical treatment on bleeding done from esophageal varices. They were a substitute to standard of a Child on nutritional value with the prothrombin time and apportioned the scores ranging from 1 till 3 to every variety.
In the field of medical science especially gastroenterology, the child Pugh score is used to see the forecasting of protracted disease of a liver, which includes cirrhosis. The child-pugh score was initially used to foretell the death rate during the surgery. But, it is used to check the need for the transplantation of the liver. The score includes the five criteria to analyze the disease of the liver. Every measure is given a score starting from 1 and ending till 3. If someone gets 1 score, then in the language of a layman it can be assumed that a person is in a safe zone. But, getting a score of 3 refers to extreme instability. The higher level of 1 point is 4 milligrams/dL and the higher level of 2 points is 10 milligrams/dL.
In the primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), some make use of revised child-pugh score where the highlighting of bilirubin is transformed to see the idea if those diseases highlight the high conjugated bilirubin varieties.

Moreover, getting points ranging from 10 to 15 means that it will land up into C criteria with a 45% survival ratio in a year and 35% chances of survival in the time of two years.
